Successful day at the Saffron carnival
Customers and staff from Saffron Walden Wellbeing Hub hosted their Rio themed carnival on Friday 9th September to celebrate the start of the Paralympics in Rio.
Officially opened by Dan Bentley, Paralympic Boccia player who won gold at the 2008 Beijing Paralympics and bronze at London 2012. Also in attendance was Deputy Mayor of Saffron Walden, Cllr Richard Freeman, Cllr Sharon Morris and Barbara Light who both represent Saffron Walden Audley Ward.
The hub was a hive of activity with The Great Pretenders drama group taking centre stage as they danced their way into the arena, welcomed by the cheering spectators.
Other activities taking place were a variety of stalls including a tombola, raffle, a woodwork stall and refreshments including a barbeque, food from around the world and a mocktail bar.
One customer said; “Today has been a good day, I have been on the photo booth and Tracy is doing a great job.”
Cllr Barbara Light said; “Really enjoyed it, loved the dance, thought they were absolutely brilliant. We really like the work that is going on here.”
