ECL Braintree opens brand new sensory room
We have proudly launched a brand new state-of-the-art sensory room for adults with learning disabilities today (13/09/2017), unveiled by local Councillor Stephen Canning at our ECL Braintree Day Centre.
Cllr Stephen Canning, Member, Essex County Council and Braintree District Council
"This service will support people across the Braintree District, particularly those adults with learning disabilities, who may not previously had access to these fantastic and often life-changing facilities."
Keir Lynch, Chief Executive, ECL
"We are delighted to be opening this new facility to the public. Sensory development is vitally important for people with learning disabilities. The new equipment will provide ways to engage with people who otherwise might have limited abilities to interact. We believe sensory experience can be a transformative process in helping every person to develop as an individual."
A coffee morning and cutting of the ribbon ceremony was held to celebrate the occasion.
The sensory room includes hoist facilities, wheelchair access, heated water bed, bluetooth speakers, fibre optics, interactive bubble tubes and interactive lights and dance floor is now available to hire at £15 per one hour session and £25 per one hour shared session (two customers).
