Our stars of the month

Star of the Month

This month’s Star of the Month is Freddy Bourne, who works as a Community Care Assistant at ECL Chelmsford (Ravensbourne). Freddy offered to create an easy-to-follow Zoom guide to help ECL staff arrange virtual sessions with their customers.

The guide has been shared across our services and Freddy has since gone on to create useful PowerPoint presentations for our customers about joining and taking part in Zoom sessions, including quizzes.

With Freddy’s support, his team have been able to continue to maintain contact with their customers, which has been invaluable during this uncertain time.

He always goes above and beyond to support both the customers and the company and has even volunteered to cover weekend shifts at the Step 2 Home service. Thank you for your hard work, Freddy!

Team of the Month

Continuing with the Zoom theme, our team of the month is ECL Café at Greenacres.

After being inspired by a conversation with a customer and their mother, the team came up with the idea of arranging cook-along Zoom sessions for their customers. The first session was held on the 17 April and was a great success with many customers logging in.

The group followed the teams instructions to make and bake shortbread and everyone really enjoyed seeing each other and being able to continue with their cooking skills. These sessions have now been rolled out across the Day Opportunities service and include drama sessions, music quizzes, gardening, chair exercises and sign stars to name but a few! From a simple conversation, an excellent initiative was formulated by them – a massive thank you and well done to the team!
