National Scams Awareness Month: July
Don't be Rushed, Don't be Hushed (Online Scams).

This July Trading Standards and Citizens Advice are promoting Scams Awareness Month 2015 with the theme "Don't be Rushed, Don't be Hushed".
The campaign aims to stop people being rushed into hasty decisions by scammers and to end victims being hushed into silence by a sense of shame, foolhardiness, or weary acceptance.
Each year millions of people in the UK fall prey to scammers. Some estimates of the total cost of mass-marketed scams are as high as £5 billion. The truth is - with reporting levels as low as 5 per cent - this cost could be far higher.
This week is Online Scams beginning Monday July 11 and the most common online scams are:
- payment card scams (card details are cloned or stolen)
- fake goods scams (such as event tickets, goods or services)
- dating scams (fake online relationship with the victim to con them out of money)
