Operated by a team of skilled care staff, ECL’s new scheme will provide older people with an affordable ‘door-to-door’ pick-up and drop-off service to either one of their two day care centres; ECL Colchester - Marylands and ECL Clacton - Millicents.

John finds it hard to get in and out of cars, which is why the S-Max is fantastic for him. If he wasn’t able to be picked up, he wouldn’t be able to come to the centre. It is good to know he is happy and looked after and is able to socialise.

The introduction of a private transport option for customer’s aims to improve the choice and control that people have over the day care they receive, offering a seamless service that links customers and their carer’s to our day services.

On arrival at the day care centre, customers are offered opportunities to socialise, discuss their interests and be involved in a variety of stimulating activities within a small friendly environment all with the aim of improving the individual’s wellbeing and independence.

The centres also provide support with personal care and offer bathing facilities on site.

The service only costs £10 per day, and all money generated will be invested back into the service to help support the needs of older people in Colchester, Clacton and surrounding areas.
