Outcome-focused support for Dawn
A positive step for Dawn, who wants to go on and find a job.
Dawn, 57, occasionally works on reception answering phones at Canvey Island Wellbeing Hub.
“I asked staff if I could help out by answering the phone, that way I can have some responsibility, build my confidence and possibly find a similar job. I feel really happy that I am helping other people.”
Dawn is also very active the days she attends the hub, participating in art and craft sessions or select the daily activities they wish to participate in from the choice board. Dawn also takes part in community based activities such as rambling sessions, shopping sessions, bowling, lunch clubs and day trips to for examples Wat Tyler Park.
“The activities I do outside the hub really help me with socialising with people on a daily basis, learn how to handle money, increase my road sense awareness, boost my confidence and social skills. On Wednesday’s I regularly attend Gateway, a social club for people with learning disabilities.
