ECL, the Care and Wellbeing Company, are looking for exceptional individuals to strengthen their sensory team.

Our innovative, national award nominated Sensory Team seeks a Qualified Senior Rehabilitation Worker for Visually Impaired People to join our fabulous team. We have been commissioned to increase our service provision for one year and so this post is a fixed term contract for one year only.  We hope that funding will be secured to continue this post however we cannot commit to more than one year at this time.

The ECL Sensory Service is a dynamic team of sensory professionals dedicated to improving services for people with sight, hearing or dual sensory loss across the county of Essex.  We have qualified Rehabilitation Workers, Rehab Assistant and Rehab Apprentices within our team. Come and join us!

Since 2009 the team has delivered a growing range of services across Essex.  These include services provided on behalf of Essex County Council including an all-age Coordination centre offering information, advice and guidance, sensory registration, specialist assessments, provision of equipment and rehabilitation and onwards referrals to statutory and voluntary services.

We were national Finalists in the RNIB Pioneer Awards 2017 for the Team of the Year category.  One judge commented “What makes this team stand out is the constant evolution of services to bridge gaps in provision and break down barriers, and its commitment to fully involving the people it aims to serve in all aspects of its work. Over a quarter of the ECL Sensory team are people with sensory impairments.”

New services developed include the Sensory Access Charter Mark, Lived Experience Sensory Awareness Training, Sensory Champions and our Sighted Guide and Communicator Guide Services.  Our objective is to develop a society where people with sensory impairments have the same access to services and businesses as everyone else.

We are looking for a dynamic and professional Senior Rehab Worker to join our established and reputable team to provide professional supervision to Rehabilitation Workers/Assistants/ Apprentices and support and advice to other workers in the assessment and provision of services to people with sight loss.  You will also provide assessment and rehabilitation training which includes daily living, low vision, and mobility and communication skills for people with visual and dual sensory impairments.

Our main sensory office is in Sandon, Chelmsford which will be your main work base however hot-desking across the county and working from home options are available to support flexible working arrangements.  You should be a car driver or have access to a car and driver as the role involves travel throughout Essex.

Our core team of staff are professional, friendly and supportive and a third of us have worked together for over a decade.  That’s says a lot about the value we place on working and growing within a supportive and encouraging team environment.

You will have the DIP HE or Foundation Degree in Rehabilitation Studies, experience of working in a Senior position providing professional supervision to ROVI’s and experience of managing a complex case load.

With ongoing training and career development, you’ll always find a challenge to keep you thriving and add qualifications to your belt at the same time.
