Dynamic, innovative, national award nominated sensory team seek qualified rehabilitation worker for visually impaired people.

The ECL Sensory Service is a dynamic team of sensory professionals dedicated to improving services for sensory impaired people across the county of Essex.

Since 2009 the team has delivered a range of services for people who have sight, hearing or dual sensory loss across Essex. These include services provided on behalf of Essex County Council including an all-age Coordination centre offering information, advice and guidance, sensory registration, CVI ring-backs, specialist assessments, provision of equipment and visual impairment rehabilitation.

The RNIB reviewed the service in 2016 and found it an example of best practice and we are currently Finalists in the national RNIB Pioneer Awards 2017 for the Team of the Year category. “What makes this team stand out is the constant evolution of services to bridge gaps in provision and break down barriers, and its commitment to fully involving the people it aims to serve in all aspects of its work. Over a quarter of the ECL Sensory team are people with sensory impairments.”

New services developed include the Sensory Access Charter Mark, Sensory Awareness Training and Sighted Guide and Communicator Guide Services. Our objective is to develop a society where people with sensory impairments have the same access to services and businesses as everyone else.

We are looking for a dynamic and professional Rehab Worker to join our established and reputable team to undertake assessments and reviews, provide individually tailored rehabilitation programs for visually impaired or dual sensory impaired people and to help our service evolve further.

Our main sensory office is in Chelmsford however hot-desking and working from home options are available across the county to support staff living within and outside of Essex. Our core team of 16 are professional, friendly and supportive and a third of us have worked together for over a decade. You will have the DIP HE or Foundation Degree in Rehabilitation Studies and experience of working with adults with Sensory impairments.

You should be a car driver as the role includes travel throughout Essex, which incidentally happens to be a very beautiful county with the longest shoreline of any county in England.
