The Essex Cares Blog

Guest Blogger - Sue Marriott discusses the Harlow Hub

< Return to Blog list | Jan 22, 2014

Walking around the Hub @ Harlow today (formerly Pyenest Wellbeing & Activity Centre) it’s hard to imagine what the old place looked like, in fact it’s impossible!

As the manager of Pyenest and the soon to be new Hub, opening on Monday 27th January, I feel a strong sense of pride in what the Essex Cares Hub Team and the designers have achieved in turning this rather old and tired building into a modern bespoke centre designed specifically to meet the needs of the Harlow community.

The building just makes you smile and every area just begs to be occupied by people enjoying their day, meeting friends and taking part in the many activities we have to offer at the Hub:

  • Morning coffee, lunch or afternoon tea in our wonderful new My Place café
  • Dancing, exercising and drama groups in our new studio
  • Sitting quietly in our relax areas
  • Practising cooking in our rehabilitation kitchen
  • Enjoying sessions in the sensory room
  • Using our WIFI facilities
  • Having a hand massage in our self-image room
  • Creating artworks in the art room
  • Accessing the internet in our state of the art IT suite
  • Conducting meetings in one of four air conditioned rooms

It’s all there for the taking!

This is a building designed by people who understand what our customers’ needs, wishes and aspirations are but it is the customers who will ultimately breathe new life into it and shape its future.

I look forward to throwing open the doors on Monday 27th January to welcome back the Pyenest customers and staff and seeing many new faces come through the door over the coming year.
