Siblings Carol, 66, and Gary, 55, attend Saffron Walden Wellbeing Hub, a hub for adults with learning disabilities.
They attend the hub for social interaction with other people and offers elderly respite care. Carol has a keen eye for keeping things tidy, so the staff put her in charge of clearing away dishes after the morning tea break and lunch. To keep his mind active, Gary enjoys all things modern, such as using tablets for educational games and activities. Gary says; “We don’t have Samsung Breezie tablets at home and I really enjoy my time at the hub. Even though it might be a small achievement, for me its huge. This really surprised my family that I am using these devices.”
They both live together as part of a big family with their mum who is 87 years old. Over the years Carol and Gary have enjoyed trips to the USA, Spain and her favourite holiday memory is swimming with dolphins.
“Being at the hub with my sister Carol has helped us both to be happy again and we have been welcomed with open arms.”
