To celebrate the summer months, Saffron Walden Wellbeing Hub is hosting a Carnival on Friday 9th September to celebrate the start of the Paralympics in Rio. Running from 11am – 3pm, the carnival will include a variety of stalls including a tombola and raffle, performance by ECL’s Great Pretenders drama group, a woodwork stall and refreshments including a barbeque, cake stall and other drinks and snacks.
Councillor Sharon Morris who represents Saffron Walden Audley Ward and Dan Bentley, a Paralympic boccia player who was part of the team to win gold at the 2008 Beijing Olympics and who also won bronze at London 2012 Paralympics will be attending the event as guests of honour.
The event will give members of the local community an opportunity to learn about ECL’s range of services and how the organisation can help carers and individuals with a variety of support needs to live active and fulfilling lives.
David Alderslade, Regional Manager for ECL services in West Essex, said: “The customers and staff have been working hard putting all the elements of the carnival together. We’re very much looking forward to meeting members of the local community and hope to see them at the event. With so much going on, it will be a great day out for everyone. We’ll also be introducing them to the services we can offer to support them and their loved ones.
Saffron Walden Wellbeing Hub is just one ECL’s network of 30 Wellbeing Hubs across Essex. The hub provides a range of fun and educational activities for adults with learning disabilities which help them to live as independently as possible by developing everyday skills.
