Essex Equipment Service awarded CECOPS accreditation
Essex Equipment Service (EES), has received ‘top marks’ from the Community Equipment Code of Practice Service (CECOPS), the independent certification and standards body, formally approved by regulators and professional bodies, including the Care Quality Commission (England).
EES is a leading home healthcare equipment supplier, offering a wide selection of specialist items to support home mobility and safety. The service is part of Essex Cares Limited (ECL), and holds the contract to provide specialist equipment to people with a range of health and social care needs in Essex. In 2018/19 they provided over 130,000 items to the community.
The CECOPS assessment of EES reviewed 22 standards, including stock management, manual handling and equipment, and rated 19 of these as ‘requirements met’, the highest score, and found no ‘non-conformities’. Sue Harris, who conducted the assessment on behalf of CECOPS, said, “There were examples of good leadership, partnership working and teamwork at every level.”
CECOPS currently works with approximately 200 assistive technology services across the UK and their accreditation is highly revered in an increasingly competitive environment for the community equipment sector.

Well done to the team at ECL on achieving CECOPS accreditation. The assessor was impressed with the service and the ‘can do’ attitude. Achieving accreditation first time without any non-conformities being identified doesn’t happen very often, and ECL managed to achieve this. It is also good to see that ECL is using the iCOPS self-assessment and continuous improvement tool, which again demonstrates their commitment to quality.
