How we can support you
We provide personalised support for adults with learning disabilities and/or autism. We support people at every level, including those requiring 1:1 or 2:1 care, ensuring each person is safe, included, and able to thrive.
We make sure you’re involved in decisions so you feel confident to try new things, learn new skills, and build connections while working toward your goals.
Our activities are designed to help you grow mentally, socially, and physically. They include things like meal preparation, music, Information Technology sessions, arts and crafts, sensory experiences, and trips into the community
There’s something for everyone to enjoy at ECL! Each of our day centres for adults with autism and learning disabilities is a little different, but they all share the same positive approach built on these key principles:
We know that education doesn’t stop when you leave school, which is why we offer a range of opportunities for people with learning disabilities and autism who want to keep learning. By creating a personalised plan, we can help you to work towards your learning goals, whether that is gaining a new qualification, managing your money, travelling independently, or building social skills.
We’re an approved ASDAN training provider, so you can work towards nationally recognised qualifications. We can also help you go to college or join other adult learning courses.
We’ll check in on your progress every six months to make sure your support plan is still working for you, and update it as needed to keep you moving forward.
When you get in touch with ECL, you’ll meet one of our experienced Trusted Assessors who’ll take time to understand your goals and what motivates you. From there, our welcoming day centre team will make sure you get the right support every day, with a dedicated key worker keeping your plan on track.
Our staff understand the challenges people with autism and learning disabilities can face, and they’re passionate about helping you overcome them so you can reach your potential. We invest in their development so they have the skills and confidence to support you in the best way possible.
The training available covers everything from autism and learning disability awareness, communication, sensory needs, diabetes and epilepsy, health and nutrition, medication, enteral feeding, positive behaviour support, and crisis prevention. We also offer specialist courses and qualifications to make sure our team is always ready to give you the very best care.
Plus we have an in-house clinical team offering physiotherapy, occupational therapy, and speech and language therapy. They also guide and train our staff to deliver therapeutic plans that really make a difference.

At ECL, we believe everyone should feel part of their community. That’s why we create lots of opportunities for you to get involved in activities outside our day centres—whether it’s volunteering, joining local events, or just eating out or popping to the shops. We want you to feel connected, build meaningful relationships, and grow your confidence along the way.
Our 'Community Connectors’ team is on hand to help you find activities in your local area and support you to get involved as much or as little as you like, encouraging you to become more independent in pursuing your interests.
Your safety and comfort is our top priority. All our day centres are fully equipped with modern facilities and designed to be welcoming and secure. They’re accessible for wheelchair users and those with limited mobility, and we also have spaces tailored for sensory needs.
Our team is trained to keep you safe. Before starting any new activity, we’ll work with you and your support network to check for risks and make sure everything is right for you. With compassionate staff and expert guidance, you can feel confident and comfortable while enjoying your time with us.
We know that the right technology can make a big difference. That's why we're always looking for new ways to use tech to improve the experience of customers with autism, learning difficulties, and other complex needs.
We use digital interactive screens and mats like Omi and Integrex to stimulate interaction. We help give non-verbal customers a voice with communication aids and encourage the use of apps and devices such as Alexa and smart watches to promote greater independence.
If you already use technology in your daily life, tell us about it when we first meet you - we’ll make sure we’re ready to support you.
