New private transport scheme launched to support older people in Chelmsford

ECL (Essex Cares Ltd) has launched a new scheme to help older people access day care services in Chelmsford and surrounding areas by providing a private transport service.

Operated by a member of highly skilled care staff, ECL’s new scheme will provide older people with a ‘door-to-door’ pick-up and drop-off service to their day care centre, ECL Chelmsford - Charles Dickens.

The introduction of private transport aims to improve the choice and control that customers have over the care they receive, offering a seamless service that links our customers and carers with our day care service.

Once driven to the day care centres, customers are offered opportunities to socialise, and be involved in a variety of stimulating activities within a small friendly environment all with the aim of improving the individual’s happiness and promote independence.

The centre also provide support with personal care and offer bathing facilities on site.

The service only costs £5 per person, per day, each way and all money generated will be invested back into the service to help support the needs of older people in Chelmsford and surrounding areas.
