Two years ago, Sally was looking for a new job in care when a friend recommended ECL. Keen to build on the skills she’d learned studying person-centred therapy at university and the experience she’d already gained as a carer, she took the plunge and applied for a Trusted Assessor vacancy. Fast-forward to today and Sally’s ECL career is going from strength to strength…
This is the first care company I have worked in where I can see colleagues being encouraged to make real progress. It’s rewarding to know that hard work is noticed, and future potential is recognised.
Sally is in her late-40s and has been with ECL for around two years. She was pointed in the direction of the company by a friend who was employed as a Local Business Manager and thought Sally’s passion for care and drive to succeed would make her the ideal candidate for a Trusted Assessor position.
“I was really impressed by the glowing feedback my friend gave me about ECL and intrigued by the Trusted Assessor opportunity,” says Sally. “I’d worked as a carer for many years, as well as studying person-centred therapy at university, so it seemed as though this was the perfect way to combine those skills while furthering my care career.”
Having previously worked in domiciliary care jobs, Sally relished the chance to work within ECL’s reablement service which allowed her to be part of her customer’s journeys of recovery. With the support of her management team, her confidence has grown and she’s felt empowered to pursue new opportunities.

It’s rewarding to know that hard work is noticed, and future potential is recognised.”
Sally has also been pleased to find that age has been no barrier to progress, despite the personal challenges that getting older can present. She says, “I had a pretty difficult time with the menopause but I felt completely supported and understood. ECL was incredibly flexible and, together, my manager and I were able to find solutions which allowed me the time I needed to recuperate and get back into the swing of things gently. It’s certainly not held me back and I feel like I have a great work/life balance now.”
Her positive experience has left her feeling optimistic about the future. She says, “for those willing to learn and remain caring and compassionate there are so many opportunities here at ECL. I plan to continue to improve my self-confidence and personal development here, and know that I’ll be rewarded with benefits, promotion, the chance to gain new skills and bonuses through the recommend a friend scheme. I can’t wait to see what’s next!”
