Get in touchECL Loughton is a friendly and progressive day centre that supports people with learning disabilities and/or autism to develop their independence
About us
ECL Loughton Learning Disabilities Day Centre will support you in a personalised and flexible way so that you can live as independently as possible in your local community.
We're here to help you have the choice and control to enjoy living life the way you choose. Your programme of support at our day centre will be created to reflect your choices and help you develop towards your personal goals. Our staff receive specialised training to make sure your support is tailored to your needs.
We have something special to offer everyone. If you have ambitions to get paid employment we can help you work towards that with our inclusive employment team. If you have more complex physical, sensory, behavioural, or communication needs we have an in-house team of clinical experts to advise us to make sure your support is the best it can be.
ECL Loughton is well located to offer a wide choice of community activities.
On our doorstep is a local parade of shops and cafes. Loughton town centre just over a mile away, offering an impressive array of shops, restaurants, as well as a library, park, and a leisure centre with a gym and swimming pool.
There are great transport links to take us further afield, including various bus routes and the underground for easy access into London.
Epping forest is just a 10 minute drive away with 2400 hectares of ancient woodlands to explore; including visitor centres, forest trails, picnic areas, cafes and easy access paths.
We regularly participate in GROW Community Garden, which is a local fruit and vegetable growing project, with the purpose of bringing people together in a supportive and safe outdoor space. The project provides us opportunities for physical activity, promotes healthy lifestyles, and to build connections in the local community.
We run a 12 week programme of activities designed to help you reach your goals. There is a wide choice of sessions to promote independence such as 'shop and cook' which focus on you achieving an outcome that is important and meaningful in your life.
We follow the active support model, which is about enabling you to do as much as you can for yourself with just the right level of support.
We also offer activities which have physical or therapeutic benefits such as therapy gym sessions, therapy dog sessions, and chair fitness.
At ECL Loughton you will have the opportunity to gain an ASDAN qualification if you enjoy a structured approach to learning and development.
We can also connect you with ECL's inclusive employment team who can support you if you would like to get paid employment.
