Our history

  • 2009: Essex Cares Limited formed

    Formed as a ‘Local Authority Trading Company’ by Essex County Council. We launched across Essex with older people day services, learning disabilities and autism day services, short-term care at home, sight & hearing services and delivering mobility equipment.

  • 2012: Expanded into West Sussex

    Delivering a short-term home care service on behalf of the County Council, helping people needing to regain confidence and independence in their own home following a spell of ill health, surgery or an accident.

  • 2014: Growth in Essex

    We commenced the Essex Equipment contract, delivering mobility and living aid equipment across Essex an behalf of Essex County Council.

  • 2015: Rebranded to 'ECL'

  • 2019: Expanded into London

    Delivering a short-term home care service on behalf of Havering Borough Council, helping people needing to regain confidence and independence in their own home following a spell of ill health, surgery or an accident.

  • 2022: Ward-Led Enablement Pilot Launched

    We launched a pioneering Ward-Led Enablement Pilot at Colchester hospital, to get older hospital patients up and moving around as soon as possible after their treatment to improve their recovery time.
