Community engagement
Community engagement
Community engagement is at the heart of our mission to make a positive difference to people’s quality of life. Engaging in local activities is just one way that ECL supports people to discover and indulge in their passions.
Getting out and being involved in the community is essential to health and wellbeing, building confidence, making social connections and enhancing life skills - all of which contribute to a great quality of life for the people that use our services.
Our home care, day services and sensory teams consider encouraging social and community interaction as a key part of person-centred care. They facilitate this in a number of ways such as: travel training to encourage independence, occupational and physiotherapy to promote mobility and independence, accompanying people on trips out to local events, parks, shops and cafes, participation in community projects, as well as putting people in touch with other organisations such as local friendship or volunteer groups.
ECL’s overriding values are caring and integrity, both of which are reflected in the emphasis we place on supporting community projects and local fundraising initiatives. Our teams enthusiastically support both national and local causes throughout the year and their achievements are celebrated across the business.
