I would tell anybody looking for a great job in care to check out the huge range of roles available with ECL

Sophie’s interest in care began during her time as a patient coordinator with a pharmacy homecare service and grew into a passion while working in a nursing home. Unfortunately, the setting offered limited options for career progression, so Sophie began looking for other jobs in care that would allow her to realise her potential. That’s when her mum stepped in.

Sophie says, “My mum has worked with ECL for more than five years, and in that time, she’s gone from strength to strength. Seeing how much she enjoys her job and knowing how far she’s come; I didn’t hesitate to go for it when she suggested I apply, too. The CCA role was different from the care jobs I’d done previously but after looking at the description online I knew it was something I wanted to be doing.”

From the very beginning Sophie loved being a CCA and just a few months later, became a mentor for other new joiners. Her desire to challenge herself and develop professionally soon led to her pursuing other opportunities with the business and before long she was promoted to Trusted Assessor.

“I’ve always been ambitious and ECL really encourages people who want to push themselves to do just that,” says Sophie. “I started my journey to become a Trusted Assessor in March last year and I now split my time between the fantastic Ward Led Enablement project, supporting patients in Essex hospitals, and customers out in the community.”

She says, “Being a Trusted Assessor is so rewarding and I’m incredibly passionate about it. I get enormous satisfaction from helping people and it makes me very happy to know I’ve made a difference in someone’s journey. Even when I’ve found myself navigating challenging situations, I’ve never felt overwhelmed because I have a talented team around me who are always there to offer their guidance and support.”

Like her mum, Sophie wouldn’t hesitate to recommend ECL to anyone who might be thinking about applying. “I would tell anybody looking for a great job in care to check out the huge range of roles available with ECL. It has already proved to be one of the best decisions I’ve ever made, and I know that the best is yet to come,” she says.
