ECL Sensory Service supports those with sight loss, hearing loss or combined sight and hearing loss develop daily living skills so that they can remain as independent as possible.  Expert advice and guidance is available on sensory equipment and adaptations from the team.  Customers are guided through rehabilitation and mobility training so that they are able to remain independent and able to access their community.

Services include: 

  • Daily living skills, training and advice to maintain independence in the home
  • Sighted Guide Service
  • Demonstration and advice on specialist sensory equipment
  • Lighting and low vision assessments
  • Rehabilitation and mobility training indoors and outdoors
  • Environmental assessment and advice on adaptations and equipment
  • Support with developing communication skills
  • Advice and signposting to social activities and voluntary groups

Over the last year 750 sensory customers have been supported across the county through a contract with Essex County Council.
